IkaScore.com has been an effort of several people loving Ikariam and wanting to get the most out of it. We had our numbers and statistics in spreadsheets long before making them available online. We paid to buy a decent server for the hosting, we spent endless hours designing, developing and debugging IkaScore, and we are still spending time every day to keep IkaScore up and running day by day.

Initially, we didn't think of the costs related to our venture. We actually believed that advertising campaigns delivered through IkaScore would cover our expenses. None of us had any similar previous experience and we paid for that! Summing all the revenue we had from all the different advertisements served by IkaScore since its creation (adsense, adbrite, clickbank, mediapoint, ...) we collected the amount of 80 EUR! This hardly covers the expenses of the dedicated server we are using for one month! Taking into account the increasing number of IkaScore visitors, we should upgrade the server soon enough to keep it working and usable for our users. The expenses keep rising...

So we came up with two solutions to avoid personal bankruptcy: Either we make the site private and give access only to our friends, or we keep the site public but we find some way to motivate IkaScore users about donating even a small amount and funding this way the IkaScore project. We tried donation campaign earlier and we failed, so this time we give some "added value" to our donators.

With a minimal donation of 5 EUR you will instantly get a voucher in your email (don't forget to check your spam folder!). Using this voucher in this page, you will enter donator mode. Each time the voucher is activated, it lasts for 24 hours, and no more activations are "charged" during these 24 hours. Each voucher can be used for activation 40 times. While in donator mode, the user will see no advertisements and will have access to all the areas of the site. At the moment, the player and alliance graphs will be available only in donator mode. This might change in the future, depending on the donations.
